Weight Management Service
Weight Management Services for adults
We offer a range of services for adults in the Aneurin Bevan Health Board area who would like support with losing weight. These services will provide you with the knowledge, tools and support you need for successful, sustainable weight loss with a focus on promoting health and wellbeing.
During the pandemic some of our services will be delivered remotely by telephone or video link. More details about the services provided and how you can refer yourself can be found below.
Vasectomy
If you are thinking about having a vasectomy you can now refer yourself for this, you don’t need to be referred by your doctor. The first step is to ring 01495 765065 and choose option 3, during office hours.
You will be asked about medication, weight, allergies and scrotal lumps/previous surgery. If your medical history is suitable, you can be added to the waiting list and contacted once an appointment becomes available.
All the pre op information will be sent to you by email, including a short video clip. This is available to watch here if you wish.
Silvercloud
People across Wales can now access free online therapy without needing to go through their GP.
People aged 16 and over experiencing mild to moderate anxiety, depression or stress can sign-up for a 12-week course of SilverCloud online therapy via their smartphone, tablet, laptop or desktop computer.
We have launched a partnership with south Gwynedd based charity Tan y Maen to help more people access the courses.
The roll-out of direct access to online therapy for Wales’ entire 16+ population recognises that people need immediate help in managing their mental health and wellbeing as the impact of COVID-19 continues to be felt, and reduces barriers to accessing this support.
MOVE BETTER GWENT
Bone, muscle and joint pain
Problems with bones, joints, nerves and muscles are often grouped together and called musculoskeletal conditions. Musculoskeletal is often shortened to MSK.
Aneurin Bevan University Health Board has developed this website to support the community of Gwent to understand common muscle, joint and bone concerns and what can be done to help.
There is a lot more to understand about musculoskeletal health than the area where you may feel pain. We have designed a three-step approach to help you understand your options and encourage you to think about everything that might be affecting you.
You will find lots of information and advice on making positive healthy choices to not only help keep you mentally and physically well but also help prevent and improve musculoskeletal conditions. You can also find information that is more relevant to particular areas of the body.
If you need it, you can complete a form online or over the phone to ask for further help.
